The Institute was established in Hong Kong in 1997 to enable people in business to have the opportunity for
official individual recognition of professional attainment and to network with other business practitioners in
different countries.
The Institute also identified the needs of individuals to continually develop their portfolio of management
skills and has established links with management training organisations who deliver high quality training and
education programmes.
Membership of this unique international organisation is offered to individuals and organisations (corporate
membership) that successfully meet the Hong Kong Institute of Business Administration (HKIBA) criteria for
acceptance.
The functional operations of the Institute and membership assessment, are overseen by an independent
international panel -The Accreditation Council. The Accreditation Council is comprised of business professionals
from various industries and academics drawn from a range of universities.
For those of you who are already members of the Institute, the benefits of professional and organisational
recognition are important to you and have proven essential for future career and business opportunities.
For those of you who wish to become members, you are invited to apply to join the Institute which will
acknowledge your managerial and business skills. Once accepted into the Institute you may use the appropriate
designatory letters after your name.
The Hong Kong Institute of Business Administration is the professional body that supports, recognises and
encourages good management practice and personal career development.
